I am checking a connection between a usb to ve direct cable and a ve direct cable. These two cables have been spliced together and seem to have different colour wires inside. Does anyone know the correct combination.
Thanks
John

The VE direct cable has red, black green & white.
red= GND
blk= +5V
green & white are the 2 data connections. Which is which depends on which end of a VE direct cable you have. If you have no 'scope, then try it one way, if it don’t work, then change the connections and try again.
The MPPT device will broadcast data, so measuring green & white with an AC voltmeter will show which is the Tx wire.
The RX wire has a weak pull up to either 3 or 5V, so a low impedance volt meter will pull this down slightly.
