I have a small Victron system installed in my travel trailer. Last night I did a firmware upgrade to install the Large image. Now at v3.41, the GX Touch 70 won’t come on when it is touched. How do I trouble shoot this?
Disconnect and reconnect the GX Touch.
Reboot the GX device.
so, later in the day the GX Touch worked. It worked all of yesterday, but this morning, at about 5 am, I went to turn on the inverter and it won’t come on again. Any thoughts on why?
Hey @carleton , sorry to hear about that.
I’m not aware of any known issues or software bugs.
If that keeps happening, then I advice to contact your dealer.
Ps. You posted this in the beta testing channel, I’ve moved it to general Q&A
Hello,
Sometimes a complete shutdown by cerbo power unplug wait 1 to 3 min then replug the cerbo power could help !!!
Matthijs,
It’s a long story, but my dealer has stopped supporting me with my system. Since I like to handle things myself, he began blaming any issues on me and eventually told me to find someone else for support.
Now I’m stuck, and things are getting worse—I’m not receiving shore power.
When I connect to shore power, nothing appears in the MultiPlus group, and the GX Touch 70 sometimes works, but it’s currently unresponsive, even after a full system shutdown.
We live in a travel trailer, and the system is under the bed. Until now, I haven’t had the chance to really troubleshoot, but this week, I’m finally able to dive in.
The biggest issue I’ve found so far is that none of the wires in the system were tied down or secured. Every wire was left loose and free to shift around as we drive, which could easily cause connections to fail over time. My leading theory is that the VE.Bus terminator may have come loose because of this.
The trouble started after I ran an 18-gauge wire to a distribution block and installed it across the system. The wire had to pass through the entire Victron Lynx setup (Lynx Power In, Lynx Smart BMS, Lynx Distributor). During the install, I noticed something started clicking, like a warning signal. I flipped the switch to turn off the Lynx Smart BMS, but the Smart BatteryProtect, which controls power to the trailer, wouldn’t shut off as expected. I had to disconnect its control wire from the Lynx Smart BMS to reset it. Since then, nothing has worked quite right.
Now that I have the MK3-USB, my plan is to start by checking both MultiPlus units with a voltmeter to confirm shore power is coming in. If I find shore power, I’ll connect the MK3-USB to verify if the MultiPlus units are detecting the input. If there’s no power, I’ll reach out to the dealer, as he’s still honoring warranty work.
I also plan to trace every wire according to the schematic and ensure each one is securely fastened and connected properly.
Do you have any tips or recommendations/
Hi,
Abut the display trouble,
Are you, meanwhile, able to remote connect the Cerbo using a wifi connection and a smartphone, tablet or web browser ?
Regarding wiring, take care to try to not mix up or to have had low power and low power cable too close, as well for can, ve-bus, ve-direct cables…
With big awg cables quality of the contact plates, a good and correct torque of screws are important too. Trying to have same lenght of positive and negative(minus) cables too.
On RV the rule with wiring is to have a fastener at least every 25 cm.
Then one point is when you work with DC, unplug/unlead the minus of the battery prior and everytime you need to do something on the installation.
I have many questions… First off, the installer did NOT put in any manual switches on the system. I put in a switch on the Lynx BMS to “shut it off” but I have learned that doesn’t really cut the power to the system, it just tells all the smart switches to shut off, if things work correctly.
What is the best way to pull power from this system since there is no mechanical off?
