Transistor GX IO Extender

Hello everyone,
I would like to use the digital outputs of the GX IO-Extender to activate 12VDC relays. Can someone help me with the choice of transistors that can be used ?
Thanks !

If more than one output need to be used, then a compact and cheap choice could be ULN2003 or ULN2803.

Or use cheap modules like these: Amazon.co.uk : 8 Channel DC 12V Relay Module

Hello,
thank you very much, I will try this!

Hi,

Can you tell me what you used and if it works like intended?

Strugling because Victron states only 4mA max output on digital output.

Hi,
I haven’t done my tests yet but I ordered Mosfet IRLZ44N which normally consume less than 4mA.

Hi,

for the PWM i use: 20 Pcs DC 5V-36V 400W FET Trigger Switch Drive Module Board Dual Mosfet Driver Module Dual High Performance Switching Driver Module PWM Controller Switch Panel Driver Module for Ar-duino : Amazon.de: Business, Industry & Science

For the outputs I use: PENGLIN 1 x 4 Channel 5 V Relay Module with Optocoupler High or Low Level Trigger Extension Board for Raspberry Pi Arduino : Amazon.de: Computer & Accessories

Additional needed for the relais: Bauer Electronics DC-DC 8V-32V to 5V Voltage Converter 3A 15W 12-V 5-V Buck Converter Power Supply 24V Voltage Regulator Voltage Stabiliser Voltage Limiter Step-Down Volt : Amazon.de: Business, Industry & Science

Best regards Andre

Hi Andre,

Thank you very much!

IRLZ44N work - but remember they are low side so are not suitable where common grounds exist. We experimented with these when the Extender 150 was release but eventually went with the BTS7000 series of smart high side power switch - this allows us to monitor current draw and provide smart fusing etc… But if you’re set on the IRLZ44N’s then they are a good Mosfet for the job and will handle PWM nicely too .. here is a pic of our 8 ch prototype ..
