System: 2x 330ah 12v smart batteries, Lynx BMS, CCGX, Multiplus inverter/charger, generator. Absorption time: 4h 0m, repeated absorption interval: Every 30 days, SoC threshold: 70%
Issue: one of the batteries is not balanced, and the system switched from Absorption to Float before the cells got balanced (after about 1.5 hours).
How do I adjust the settings to ensure that the next time I run the generator to charge the batteries so that it stays in Absorption charging mode long enough to balance the cells in the imbalanced battery?
The following is an extract of the manual, Section 6.1.3.
- Be aware that cell balancing only takes place during the absorption stage. It will be necessary to manually restart the charger each time the charger has gone to float. Rebalancing can take a long time (up to a few days) and require many manual charger restarts.
Therefore, once the charger has gone to float you need to start another charge cycle. The easiest way is to set the SOC threshold very high, 99% (99.9% if it accepts decimal values) and do another charge. You could set a longer absorption time but with imbalanced cells, this is over ridden at times as you have seen.
Cool. Thanks for that. I’ll give that a go.
