System still selling energy from battery while dess is off

I have a system with fixed prices, selling is unprofitable, certainly when selling from battery which costs more than the little profit of the energy provider.

DESS is off, but the system still plans to sells all the energy from battery to grid which is not profitable.

Why is this?

And how can I prevent this using the battery for self consumption only?

If DESS is turned off, there is simply no further calculation happening.
You’ll see these graphs for the time they have been calculated - and after that, they will vanish from VRM completly or stay empty.

(It’s meant to be a feature for those who turn off DESS temporary and still want to keep an eye on when to turn it on to hop on a certain schedule)

Yeah, on a system with a flat buy and sell… financial goals do no longer have weight. Then the Greenmode-Model considers its “highest goal” is to minimize solar2grid. And when prices do no longer influence that, the logical but irrational strategy to just “roundtrip energy through the battery” to reduce the solar feedin amount because that yields conversion losses… is mathematically satisfying that goal, but ofc. economically pointless.

I understand, but still strange that it sells energy while the price (energy price - batterycost) is even negative and always lower than selling pv energy directly. Maybe this can be improved in the future

But for me, when it works like it should (keeping buying energy from grid to a minimum and only selling excess pv) that’s fine.

On that sysytem, I would recommend to disable DESS, it won’t buy anything. No matter when it will run short of energy, direct grid-pull is “always cheaper” as there are no conversion losses.

Regular ESS-Behaviour (Charge solar, discharge battery till empty, then pull from grid at whatever time) is the cost-ideal strategy already.
