Greetings to everyone from Spain. I would like to present my case. I have a Victron system in a remote location, powered by a Victron inverter, an MPPT 100/30, and a Cerbo GX. Everything is connected via a wireless internet service, and generally, the system works perfectly.
The problem arises when I use the Victron mobile app to manage the system. The app allows you to switch between different modes like “Inverter only,” “Off,” “Charger only,” among others. The issue is that if you accidentally select one of these options, such as “Off” or “No Invert,” the app does not ask for confirmation before carrying out the action. This is critical because turning off or disabling the inverter cuts off power to the entire system, leaving me without remote access to the installation, including the internet service and the Victron system itself.
This is a serious issue, as a simple accidental action can disconnect the entire installation. I believe the app should include a confirmation prompt before allowing such delicate changes, like turning off the system or switching the inverter’s mode. Has anyone else experienced this or knows of a solution to avoid these mistakes?
Hi, to avoid this, get the supply for Cerbo GX and Router directly from Inverters battery.
But yes, normally a confirmation time of 5 Seconds or so is implemented in most cases but not this.
All the best
"I knew you would mention the option of connecting the router to the battery, since the Cerbo GX inverter is currently connected directly to the battery, but the internet system is not. Don’t you think it would be appropriate to implement this idea?
Is it really complicated to implement that warning in the software? From my point of view, it seems unprofessional not to include it, as it is a serious issue that can leave the customer without communication and the base devices powered off. This happens regardless of whether they have a router and the Cerbo GX inverter connected to the battery.
You haven’t actually detailed what you’re doing. Presumably the Controls section in the VRM app. There’s a warning there about enabling that function for “mission critical applications”.
Maybe you should disable it there and switch from Remote Console. There you can make a selection easily enough. But you also have to Tick it off as well…
Thank you for the alternative options, but don’t you think the system should perform that action automatically with just a simple notification? It would be much more professional.
