Smart Shunt Configuration

Hello! I am just a DIY beginner and a have a simple solar setup. 3 panels wired in parallel to the victron mppt. Then I have a xzny 25.6V 100Ah battery. I can’t seem to get the SOC to synchronize, I have a feeling some of my settings are incorrect and it is not hitting the synchronization parameters. I can tell when the battery gets to 100 as it stops allowing solar charge. I will attach the relevant battery parameters from the manual and my current settings. I appreciate any constructive input!

I assume you are charging at 28.8V absorption, add a screenshot of your solar settings including expert mode and what power of panels.

If your MPPT is set at 28.8V are you actually achieving this voltage. A screenshot of the voltage and current history on the SmartShunt would be very useful.

Without knowing the info above I can not see any problems with your settings, 10% tail current is high but that makes it easier to synchronise to 100%.

One guess is that your battery is not full, but is shutting off charge because the cells are imbalanced and one is creating a high voltage shutdown before you get to full. Do you have Bluetooth on your battery to check cell voltage or why it has shut off.

Good point, don’t think about the MPPT settings. I will attach them as well as smartshunt graph of history. The battery does not have any capabilities for Bluetooth.

What I think is happening is the battery gets almost completely full at around 27.0V so the current is reducing, so when the battery does get to 29.2V, the current is below the 20A tail current on the MPPT so it goes straight to float and this happens too quickly for the SmartShunt to synchronise.

I suggest that you reduce the absorption voltage to 28.8V, set a tail current in the MPPT of 1A and reduce the fixed absorption to 15mins. That will make sure it spends some time at 28.8V to balance and make sure the SmartShunt resets to 100%. Set the SmartShunt charged voltage to 28.4V and a tail current of 4%.

No signs of the battery cutting off charge so no concerns about imbalance.

I will implement this Thank you so much for the input.
