Smart Shunt 500A

Simple question for the community. I have purchased the 500A battery shunt with Bluetooth to monitor the Ah 0n a 48v system powering the outboard motor of a sailboat. It’s pretty important to get the remaining battery capacity correct from a safety point of view. The question I have is once I have installed the shunt and I enter the Ah capacity of the battery in the setup ie 316Ah does the battery at that stage need to be fully charged? Ie does the shunt in essence work as a counter and count off the consumption used and hence the initial figure having to be accurate?

Thanks

After installing you configure the shunt in the app. Then you charge the battery fully and when the battery is fully charged for some time (a few hours) you can set the actual state of charge to 100% in the app. After the shunt will count the amount of amps going in and out of the battery. The function is called “State of charge” manually set the state of charge.

Thanks Albert. That makes sense and will do.
