Smart Battery Sense Voltage for Charging

I added a Victron Smart Battery Sense since my Victron MPPT 100/20 charge controller is ~20 ft away from my Li-ion battery. Anyway, I expected the charge controller to use the Battery Sense voltage when charging, but I just noticed the charge controller switched to absorption based off the higher charge controller voltage. I thought the battery sense voltage was supposed to be used instead? Is there any way to change this?

Did you then join them in a VE.Smart Network? That’s necessary.

If not, then do so: 6. Step-by-step instructions

If you did already and it’s not working, check that the network is actively functioning; 20’ is a ways for BLE to communicate especially if there are any obstructions between the two components, and it’s possible that the bluetooth connection isn’t stable enough to be consistently used.

Yes, I had the network created and both devices joined.

My DIY battery is in a metal box and the battery sense showed 1-2 signal bars per the Smart Networking settings page. I took the battery sense out of the box and now it shows 2-3 bars and the voltages shown on the app device list for the controller and battery sense are now tracking closer. So I guess the connection wasn’t stable enough before like you said.

Thanks for your help
