Single chassis ground using Lynx?

Hello - this is my first complete build and I have a few basic questions centered around chassis grounding.

My system:

  • two Lynx Power In combined and upgraded to use MEGA fuses
  • SmartSolar MPPT 100/30
  • Orion XS 12/50 DC-DC
  • Blue Smart IP22 12/30
  • Inverter VE.Direct 12/500
  • BMV-712
  • two 100 Ah LiFePO4

The batteries will be wired in parallel and the positive and negative will connect directly to the Lynx. BMV-712 will be positioned between battery bank and Lynx. All other components will connect positive and negative to Lynx.

First question: my plan is to connect one Lynx to the chassis so all other components will be grounded to a single point thus eliminating ground loop, BMV-712 errors, etc. Would this be correct?

Second question: the SmartSolar MPPT and Inverter VE.Direct both have chassis grounds with instructions stating these must be grounded. My plan is to connect the chassis grounds for these components to the Lynx also. Would this be correct?

@jsalbre alerted me that the SmartSolar MPPT 100/30 has a chassis ground - thank you!

@pwfarnell has provided valuable information regarding grounding and I hope is able to comment.

My goal is to install these components in accordance with Victron Energy’s instructions and industry best practices. Safety is a high priority since most of my time is spent alone in remote locations. Thank you.

Both of your ideas are exactly the way I do it and I’ve never run into issues. Someone else may jump in with different opinions though.

On my boat my Lynx distributor goes to hull ground point as do the MPPT and inverter. Your set up is electrically the same.

Thank you both for answering my ground-related questions.
