Set fixed supply prices in DESS

I’ve posted previously about how I import prices from my provider into DESS, using the DESS “fixed price” Node-RED. For the most part, it works really well, but it VRM/DESS doesn’t have the entire picture of my energy costs as passed on by my provider.

My particular provider charges me a monthly “membership” fee to access the national wholesale market directly. There is also a fixed network access charge each day that the poles and wires people charge. And the people who do the metering also charge a fixed amount each day.

I’d like for VRM to accept a “fixed daily charge” in the DESS configuration that it can use in calculating the day’s costs. My only real goal for my system is to achieve a net-zero-cost electricity supply (and, hey, great if I can also make a few dollars if the conditions allow). I feel that DESS needs to have a handle on the actual costs if I’m to have any hope of achieving that with DESS.

Additionally, I note that in “Dynamic” pricing mode in the DESS, there is a slider available for enabling handling of negative prices, but that slider is not present for “Fixed” pricing mode. Does that have an impact on the decisions DESS makes when my prices are set to negative values in “Fixed” mode pricing?

With thanks,

Andrew
