In my Possl camper with EBL 119 control unit and Schaudt Booster WA 121525 I replaced the AGM batteries by installing 2 lithium batteries of the same amperage (Ultimatron). I correctly set the control unit charger to GEL/lead and Lithium on the booster. After a few km the booster stopped working. Dead. I then purchased a Victron Orion 12/30 dc/dc which I installed in place of the Schaudt 121525.
The dc-dc does not work, it does not recharge the batteries, perhaps because the control unit configuration is not correct.
Do you know how to make the EBL 119 Elektroblock and the Victron Orion dc-dc work? thank you very much
I have done a same rebuild with the EBL119. You have to disconnect the start battery from the EBL119. And only connect the start battery to the Orion. Also you have to remove the 20A fuse from the charger and use another extra charger for wall connection with lithium specifications. The internal charger of the EBL has no power enough for the lithium setup (not designed for this).
Hi Sander, I know this is an old thread but I am doing a conversion that’s similar and spotted your reply. I am removing a WA121545 and replacing it with a Victron Orion XS 12/12 50 and also have an EBL119. My question is: You mentioned removing the starter battery from the EBL at E20 3F, do I wire the output from the Victron to that port instead?
Just realised I have already looked at the Victron pdf and it doesn’t answer my question. The WA121545 already has a wire from the starter battery so I can use that as the “in” to the Victron XS but the rear of the EBL119 has 3 ports, Earth, live out to the leisure battery and the other is connected to the WA121525, it is this wire I am interested in and do I wire that to the “Out” of the Victron?.
You have to disconnect the start battery from the EBL119. And only connect the start battery to the Orion. The only connection to the EBL is the brown and black connection directly from the Lithium (I have used a battery protect and a fuse for this connection).
Thankyou for the clarification, your picture confused me in that the output from the Orion appeared to go the the EBL and I thought that it meant that it went to the original starter battery position on the rear. So the output from the Orion just goes to the Lithium positive.
