SamrtSolar 150/85 VE Can, Charger deactivates erratically

I have an installation with a SmartSolar 150/85 VE CAN connected CERBO through VE Direct cable .
The Smart Sollar erratically switches off during the day and chrge current drops to 0 A , with PV Voltage > 80 V and connected to the battey (52 to 54 ) , Remote contact is closed. Opening an closing the remote contact does help .

After the charging has ceased the only way to get it back to work is

  • by deactivating via VictronConnect ( Bluetooth or through Cerbo ) or by setting mode Register to 4 ( off ) via Modbus
  • wait at least 5 min
  • and then reactivate resp. set mode Register to 1 (= on ) via Modbus

firmware version whas been updated to 3.16 which did not help at all .

Does it still do this if all data communications are disconnected? i.e. is the unit being ‘told’ to turn off, or doing it by itself?

Yes, this was actually my first test I disconnected the CERBO and - few hours after sunrise it ceased charging the battery ( < 60% charged ) it deactivated itself. The only way to restart was by connecting Victron connect on my smartphone via bluetooth , deactivate the charger and re-activate few minutes later.
There is no alarm , PV Voltage > 80V , Bulk mode , battery voltage approx 53 V - way below absorption of float voltage

If that is the case, perhaps you need to return the unit under warranty?

Three days ago I eliminated the VE Diirect cabling and connected the Smartsolar and CERBO via CAN Bus - and since then no more erratic deactivation - I will wait now
