Hi Frank, You are the very 1st person I have come accross who also had a Delios. I did like it even though it had its limitations. One of those I will be glad to get rid of is the need to be up at 11.30 pm to manually switch the inverter to charge the battery from the grid on the cheap rate. At some point I will have a closer look at the Delios to see if I can repair it. I did not know that they switched manufacturing base mine came from Italy. stamped all over it. The service from Italy I found very good had a few queries which were dealt with promptly usually with a firmware patch to sort out an issue. Did yours break down or did you just decide to switch? It is frustrating Delios went bust I still had 2 months on the warranty.
Hi @Dafydd,I live in northern italy and got the Delios over HQSOL, a complete rediciously price of over €4000 ,at the end I even installed it myself
.Yes the manually switching to charge got even on my nerves,so I switched from lead-carbon batteries to a healthy 2p17S diy lifepo4 banks. From then on no problems
Other anoying things were: a rather low charging power and the “off grid” reduced output.Well I managed ,a year before the software broke down, to change the electrolytic caps to film caps. This went well with some emprovement of stability and efficiency.
Anyway I kept the remains of the Delios
,so if You need spare parts, just tell me!
Best regards Frank
I’m quite sorry to hear that they went into bancruptcy,I was wondering already for quite some time, how they could manage selling only over installers. From about last year I’ve seen the Delios suddenly turning up everywhere for about half price I bought it…..That’s where the services went down the hill…..
Mine broke down after ca. 7.5 years of service. It was a software problem with some chips not working propperly. They wanted me to send in the whole machine, check it,give me an estemate and than repair it and send it back….A rough estemate was around €1500.- so I decided against having it repaired…..
Anyway I have got spare parts ,if You need! Cheers Frank
Thanks for the offer will keep in mind. Mine was a 6kw model so some parts may be interchangeable but not many I expect. I paid £2300 + Vat for mine which will be roughly what it will have cost for the transition to Victron when I have rolled all the extras in. i.e. cabling and switch gear. I do not know if you know that Delios had some sort of cooperation/partnership with Midac Batteries and if you look here. Residential – Midac Batteries and scroll down you will see what look like Delios inverters under Midac label. The sales manager from Delios is now PV specialst sales manager at Midac.
Hi there,I didn’t know the battery thingy…..Here I’ve got some other news:when I was looking for a new inverter I was looking for a Solarmax, originally made in Switzerland ,then bought by a German company ,which kept the name.Delios produced the Es-Series for Solarmax .I could actually choose the Solarmax logo on the display:rofl:.I had quite a few discussions with Delios and Hqsol(the seller) about selling products under different names. And some software issues (like the manual charging thing
).Hqsol the maniging director (or at least he came across like that ) used to be one of the original engineers from Switzerland (the italian speaking part ,as he was Italian). When mine broke down,I took it again into parts and my first opinion was the transformers. So I went near by ,where they where actually made(I found out at the serial nr) and there they checked them and they seemed to be ok.They told me that Delios stopped ordering from this little company (near Pavia) and moved the production to some eastern country,I think it was Romania …….What I liked, because mine was still the orginial “Italian “,that it was actually very robust build ,apart on the main board some micro parts ,which are usually the first to go,together with filter caps and mechanical parts like fans.So I had the choice ,about a year before it broke finally down ,whether to go for Victron or take my Delios into parts and change everything ,what usually goes first. This actually went well and ladted another year, before the software played around. Then it didn’t charge anymore:scream:![]()
So that’s some more News about Delios…..
A shame, here we have the classic example when decisions from the top management vitaly go wrong😱.
Best regards Frank
Delios were a subsidiary co of Weco a very well renowned manufacturer of Welding equipment. Who we are | Weco.
So presume that Delios was spawned off the Welding technology seeing as inverters are involved
In the last account for Delios they made a loss of ca 340000 euros. Not a lot by some standards.
Along with their association with Midac batteries does seem strange that the plug was pulled.
Have disconnected the Delios, now will need a hand to take off the wall it is close to 40 kg.
The Multiplus 11 is even heavier, it and the other bits were meant to be sent out yesterday but weren’t
Guess will be in new year now. I realise now just how much electricity is costing those without the gear to generate their own.
Kind Regards
Dafydd
Thanks for all the information .So that’s the end of Delios ![]()
