Quattro II + Lynx + Orion XS + Cerbo GX + SmartShunt

Happy Easter Y’all! Well, I’ve bit the bullet and decided to upgrade my 2013 Tiffin Allegro Open Road Motorhome from Lead-Acid to Lithium (and all the trappings that go with such an undertaking)

At this point, I think I’ve read, watched and discussed just about everything I can get my hands on… but there’s still that burning feeling that I need to get a second opinion.

I will double check cable and fuse sizing in the manuals, but does this layout even make sense with the hardware I want to use? Anything I’m missing or any lessons that you can impart before I get started?

Thanks so much,

MatGeek

Whats the idea behind the MP here? As its drawn, it takes a shore power AC input as well as a generator AC input, but does not output to any AC fuse box.

The MultiPlus has only one ACin, if you have two sources, like a mains and a genset, its best to use a Quattro instead, since it has two ACin. Otherwise you would need either a manual or automatic switchover before going into the MP.

Why are there two Shunts drawn in series? You only need one.

Instead of using a Lynx Distributor, which you only use two fuse spots on and the third fuse hanging outside because it needs to be smaller than the Distributor can accept (and not being able to power the internal PCB with the fuse control lights because thats only a thing when using a Lynx BMS) you could use an iMaxx HMD4-MG1, which offers a spot for a megaOTO fuse for the MP and four midiOTO that go down to the required 30A. Add a detached busbar for negative.

The Shunt uses VE.direct, the MP uses VE.bus to communicate to the Cerbo, you cant wire them in series. Also, use another VE.direct for the OrionXS.

Ideally the two conductors connecting the MP chassis to ground as well as the negative busbar to ground would be colored yellow-green since they are PEs. Also they dont need to be 4/0 since they are not carrying current normally (at least the one going to the MP chassis)(for the negative to ground its a bit more complicated, but given that this seems to be a trailer, i would leave that connection in).

Thank you very much for the incredibly detailed reply!

I feel a little foolish – the inverter should have indeed been a Quattro II (12/120/3000) here, but when I was looking for a wiring diagram on the Vigtron site, they were all way too complex. I found an older diagram on another site, with something much closer to what I wanted, so I started there… 100% thought it was a Quattro, spent hours looking at it while I rearranged the layout. Can’t believe I didn’t see that was a MultiPlus that entire time. :man_facepalming:

I will take a bunch more time editing this before replying again.
