MPII 6.4kW
MPPT 7.2kW peak
BSL battery 30kWh
I’ve ran my ESS trouble free for a year now. I’m on a UK split tariff (EON Next Drive) that gives me off peak from midnight to 7am which I use to charge my house battery every day and my EV when it needs it. My house runs on PV and battery during the peak hours. I use almost zero peak rate in the summer and occasional peak rate in the winter. I also get paid SEG for my PV export.
I get 10p per kWh more for export than off peak import, hence this question.
In the summer months I observe the correct behaviour of excess PV charging the house battery first then when it gets to 100% SOC it goes to Grid. Next summer I would like to change the logic to increase the PV export to Grid by prioritising it over house battery charging during peak hours. Essentially disabling charging during peak hours.
What’s the simplest way of achieving this?
I’m aware of DESS but I don’t like handing over control to an algorithm that I don’t understand.
I’m also aware of Node Red, which is an option, but I want to check if there’s a simpler solution that I’m missing.
