Power Assist Mode Current limit

Hi All,

i am testing a 3x15kVA Quattros (3-phase system) with a 60kVA genset. I have noticed that the input current limit only applies or functions with a purely resistive load in power assist mode. Once we added inductive load to bring the power factor to 0.8, it no longer limits the current.

In assist mode I had the limit set to 67A which is the max of the generator based on kW rating, but when testing at around 60kVA, 48kW/36kVAR, the current just stayed at the generator’s max of 82A per phase

Does anyone have an idea of this?

Hello @Gee213 , Does that mean the current limit prior to power assist only considers the in phase component of the current? Did you get a resolution to your query or have you come to any conclusions about this?

I guess that means to set the current limit correctly we need to derate it by the power factor. For instance if we have a current limit in mind of 50amps and we know the power factor is 0.8, we should really set the current limit at 40amps?

Any further knowledge you now have about this is appreciated.

Trevor

I’ve had the same problems since i build in my multiplus 4 years ago.

It was solved with version 552.
