Posting new feature requests - within the guidelines

Hi Guy,
I have tried to figure out where we are supposed to post requests and suggestions for new features (hardware, software…). I see posts in different sections, but I also get the feeling from the guidelines that the community space may not be the place to address that. Could you please clarify this point?

Hi, this is something raised previously.
It doesn’t really matter, place it in the category most relevant for the topic and tag it with feature request. If it’s in the wrong place it will just be moved.
There are some specific sections for EVCS, DESS, UI etc. DIY is for mobile/off-grid/Self-install.

Thanks Nick. I figured it had been raised before, but my search before writing didn’t take me to the topic.

There is a specific tag for fetaure request. So it doesn’t matter where you put it (within reason) if the tag is used.

This is kind of a meta post…

Can accessing the “feature request” tag be made easier and more obvious, it’s very hard to find?

Also there are two different tags, one with an underline and one with a dash…

Merged with a similar topic.
The - vs _ is a mystery. We standardised on one, but the other keeps appearing, as fast as they are removed they reappear.

So which is the standard/accepted one?

It doesn’t matter, victron can filter on either and when we clean up tags they get merged so nothing is lost.
@guystewart can you provide some clarification here please?

Yeah the tag thing is driving me nuts too … They are like the Head-of _Hydra…

Good to see a “Victron Expert” say that… I figured that as a beginner, I didn’t have access to the tag…
Seriously, will someone tell how to access it? As soon as I can, I promise I’ll post a feature request to make it apparent :joy:

Just type in “feature” in the tag list, it should filter it for you. There isn’t an access control restriction on tags, should be accessible to everyone.

That is odd.
It is in the tags box. When you post, start typing and it will auto bring it up from its crazy list.

Or at least it does when i do anyway :upside_down_face:

Ok got it, finally!
I wasn’t going deep enough into the choices: “feature-request” appears at the fourth level of tag selection, after “Experience level”, “Product” and “Market”! It’s a good way to keep the request level low
Thanks for your patience - I suspect this thread will be of use to other new joiners.
