Phœnix Charger 50A / LiFePO4 batteries 600AH

Hi all,

I installed 2 new LiFePO4 batteries (300AH each) few days ago in my van as well as a Phoenix Charger 50A.

I would like to cycle the batteries couple of times to optimize them. However, after nearly 15 hours of charging time, it still shows absorption and I wonder if this is normal.

The bulk phase took about 10 hours to be completed (497 Ah charged) while the absorption is still going on.

I attach a screen recording that shows the reading / data.

Thanks for your help,
Rudy

And that’s what my battery monitor shows :

What are the settings in the charger ?

Maybe the absorption time is set to 8 hours ?

Hi Ludo,

Thanks for your response.

I checked the previous settings and I noticed that the bulk time limit was set to 10 hours by default which is matching to when the bulk phase stopped on the last charging cycle of my batteries.

So, I assume that my batteries were more depleted than want I initially assumed.

Therefore, I have changed the bulk time limit to 11 hours so on the next cycle, the batteries will get more AH before moving to the absorption phase. What do you think?

Here is a screenshot of my current settings with only the bulk time limit modified.

I will start the discharge phase later today and try again to charge when the batteries reach 20%.

For any useful purposes, here are the specs of my batteries

Set temp compensation to 0
set tail current to 12A or 2 %
set low temp cutoff to 0°C or 32°F

Thanks Ludo
I will change the settings and start a new charging cycle.
I will let you know how it goes.
Thanks again !
