OS 3.80: Virtual EV-Charger not shown in VRM

I just added the new EV-Charger virtual device to Node-RED as a test and am sending it data every 5 seconds—including total power, as well as power, voltage, and current per phase. But the virtual charger isn’t showing up in the VRM?

Venus OS v3.80

Are you sure you’re sending it in the correct format?

I think so, yes:

I also have a go-e charger, which is controlled by evcc, integrated by dbus-script GitHub - jlegen/dbus-evcc: Integrate EVCC connected charger into Victron Ecosystem · GitHub .

Both chargers are shown as device:

But only the evcc charger is shown in vrm, not the virtual charger:

The plan had actually been to remove the existing jlegen dbus script and instead integrate evcc via the new virtual ev-charger…

At this point, I’ve concluded that the virtual EV charger is completely useless to me:

  • Not displayed in VRM
  • No way to specify whether it’s connected to ACin or ACout
  • Missing “EV connected/disconnected” property

This means that third-party d-bus-scripts such as the one by jlegen on GitHub are still required for proper integration of an evcc wallbox.

@Barbara any plans for this?

Hi Grua,

Unfortunately more integrated support for virtual EV chargers is not in our roadmaps.

It is displayed in the VRM, I set mine up yesterday (there is a option not to display until you pass a connected message to it). Not sure about the other points, will need to check when I’m home.

It could do with better documentation as to what can be passed to the virtual node.
