Orion XS50 not charging properly

Upgraded from Orion 12 12 30 to XS50.

2020 Sprinter van. xs50 charges intermittently 0 Amp to 30.

it charges for few minutes then down to 0 for few minutes and charges again but only 0 to 31 amp.

Cable is 6awg and length is 12 feet from the battery. fuse is fine cable is connected tight. Orion XS50 is not hot.

any suggestions ? firmware is current maybe bad unit?

Are you using the automatic engine run detection?
What is it set to?

Presumably, the vehicle has an intelligent alternator, so please set that as well.

I am using is as default set up. It does set as intelligent alternator it is set to engine stop detection mode.
