Orion XS capabilities/limitations

Can my Victron Orion 12/12/50 charger charge a 12v house battery that is also being supplied 12v from a Victron 24/12v converter?
The Orion would be connected to the bus with a c/b,
the converter would feed the same bus with a c/b,
and the house battery would share this same bus.

You can have multiple charge sources on one battery, they will regulate OK. You will find that even if you have them set to exactly the same absorption and float voltages that one will read a slightly higher voltage due to voltage drop and will provide more charge during absorption and go to float first. If you have a preference for one being the dominant one then set its voltages 0.05V to 0.1V higher. I used to have my solar charger set higher than shore power so solar charged more than shore power.

Thank you for your reply and input. What I am proposing really only has one “charger”. The other 12v source is a 24v/12v converter without a charger. I can’t imagine any problem with this plan and if it is ok to charge from 2 sources then I can see no reason for this to be unsafe or problematic.
As I’m writing this I realize that the solar is charging the 24v battery then being converted to 12v then sent to a 12v battery, so this is kind of a charger. Hmmmmmm. I was not TRYING to get the solar system to charge a 24v AND my 12v battery, but it seems I would be.

So, your opinion is that this would be ok?

So the one is just a fixed output voltage more like a power supply, must read carefully. These are normally set to a voltage that is a bit higher than the full battery voltage, say 13.2V so they still charge a bit. The Orion will got to a higher voltage, say 14.4V and stop current flow from the converter. This is not a problem, the converter output is rated up to 15V. There is also no problem with the solar passing through from an equipment viewpoint, but losing the energy may be.

Fantastic news, thank you so much. I really wanted to keep the Orion operational as it works great for keeping the fridge going. I will post results of its function once I have completed the install and tried it out.
Much thanks for the help.
