I have an RV (trailer) with an existing Orion XS wired to a Lynx distributor with 6 AWG. With my former tow rig I had 6 AWG wire running from the battery to an Anderson connector to the trailer, but never got more than 25 amps charging, I assumed because the run was longer than a total of 30 feet. I have a new tow rig, and am planning to run 4 AWG wire from the battery to an Anderson SB120. My question is: do I need to replace the trailer’s existing 6 AWG wire with 4 AWG, or can I just replace the smaller Anderson connector on the trailer cable to match the truck’s and use the existing 6 AWG in the trailer?
