ORION XS 1400 dual batteries charging

I have on my boat one regular alternator 55 amp 24 volts (Prestolite) which is charging 2 batteries bank starter (2 X12 Volts lead acid 1000 amp- 180 Ah) and service ( 2X 12 volts lead acid 1200 amp 240 Ah) through an argofed victron. Last year I have burn the service battery bank due to overheating : too hot in the machine room. So I change the argofed to an ORION XS 1400 with the circuit diagram provided.

1st question : when engine is off , Orion detected alternator off and stop the charge in the service battery bank : is there a fully decoupling between the 2 banks like the argofed ? in other words can I drain out the service bank without touching the charge in the starter battery bank when engine is off ?

2th question: the Orion will protected the service battery bank and reduce the tension in function of the temperature. nice but will they be fully charged in this condition? and nobody talk about the starter battery directly in line with the alternator that seems not to be in need of protection. thanks for your help ! appreciate !.

Yes, you can use the service bank separately if engine detect is set up correctly there is no power movement between the two

thank you for this quick answer. so no fear at anchor with full illumination !

engine detect is automatic with factory set up . or do I need to set this up manually ?

It does come with a basic factory setting, but sometimes it needs to be tuned to the set up.
Just check if it is switching off an on as expected.

If you open victron connect in demo mode you can have a look at the settings available.

thank you very much.
