I have a problem with interference from Orion when charging.
I tried moving everything around, connecting my sonar directly to battery terminals, moving wires away from everything, and putting the ferrite on my sonar cables, and nothing helped. I even tried turning on Orion without the alternator running just to discharge my starter battery, but nothing helped.
In the picture when Orion is on its always this high interference, the clear parts are when I turn off the Orion.
Nothing else is connected to the battery, just Orion and sonar for this test.
I would try adding a capacitor (or two) between the positive and negative power leads near your transducer and/or Garmin. The interference is likely caused by voltage spikes in the power line due to the charger’s transistors switching on and off to regulate voltage. The capacitors will filter out the spikes and give you a smooth power source. The best way to check for power line spikes is with an oscilloscope. You may be able to find an “off the shelf” solution by looking for power line filters used for car audio equipment.
Thank you for replay, i will try what you said and check. Strange thing is i have several friends with exect same setup and wiring and none of them experiance any problem.
