I want to use as much PV as possible while connected to shorepower. So I made a flow that tries to set the Input Current Delimiter to just below the power needed to supply the loads. This is calculated every 10 seconds and when the outcome differs enough, it is changed in the settings.
Thus (in theory) letting the PV do as much as possible to keep the batteries charged and supply as much of the loads as possible, during the day.
When PV is gone, the Input Current Delimiter is set to a higher number, to (re)charge the batteries to 100% until the next dawn.
The calculation works ok (I can see that in Node-RED from a debugnode and below the Victron outputnode), but the value isn’t getting visible in Remote Console or in the dashboard. There it stays the same. Also when I try to change it in Remote Console manually by the way…
In Node-RED I use the Victron VE.Bus System control to set the setting.
I’m probably missing something, but I can’t put my finger on it…
Do you have overruled by remote enabled on the inverter?
Yes, that’s ticked.
Doesn’t “Prioritise Solar and Wind” do exactly that?
What are you writing it to then?
Active input current limit (A)
I had heard of it, but hadn’t really looked into it. It could be an option too. If I can’t get anywhere with Node-RED (which is great fun to “play” with), I’ll look into that. Since the system doesn’t seem to respond properly when I set the Active input current limit, I’m now trying to switch the MP2 between Inverter only and on, using the switch position. But that doesn’t seem to be getting through to the system either…
So perhaps there’s a connection “missing” between Node-RED and the system…
The documentation states:
Requirements: • Victron inverter/charger such as Multi, MultiCompact, MultiPlus, MultiPlus-II or Quattro with new microprocessor (26/27)
How does one determine which microprocessor is in use? Or does 26/27 refer to the device (which would mean only brand new systems can use this feature). It would if the documentation was clearer on requirements.
It does refer to the device hard and firmware as delivered, not its production year.
The mentioned 26/27 is a part of the prefix to the firmware number as well as part of the compatibility ID. For example an MP2 48/4k5 230V has a firmware prefix of 2601. When it was delivered with firmware 556 then the complete firmware number would be 2601556. Its comp ID would be 2601_A for example.
I dont think i have ever seen a small microcontroller MP myself, in about ten years of using Victron products. I dont know when exatly the change was made, but its for sure a few years back. AI says it was 2013.
