Tech Support,
I am looking to purchase a plain old 1980 style - NOT SMART 12v 300-500 Watt inverter.
I will use this for smart cameras and remote wifi out on the farm field.
I cannot have a smart inverter because the protection on/off works against the other smart devices and they compete.
I don’t know how to shop for that because I don’t know what terminology to use.
Everyone promotes their wiz-bang modern inverter. I just just want on/off.
I do expect some protection is due but I want to control on/off. I don’t want a microchip making that choice for me.
Patrick.
To be clear, we’re not tech support here, we’re just a bunch of other system owners, enthusiasts, and volunteers. For product technical support, please consult with your local authorized Victron dealer or distributor, which you can find here: https://www.victronenergy.com/where-to-buy
You don’t specify your general location, so I don’t know what your desired output voltage is, ie 120v 60Hz or 230v 50Hz, but at the end of the day Victron stuff is pretty simple in that if the product name doesn’t have “Smart” in it, it’s not smart. The Inverter VE.Direct line is most likely what you’ll be wanting to look at: Inverter VE.Direct | Victron Energy
Thank you Justin I am central TX USA and have a few small Victrons and love them, but didn’t know what I had! In the future I think Victron will be my preferred hardware. I bought a 9.6Kw Eco-Worthy 48v kit to run a few freezers at the house as my first step to learning off grid. I also have 12V wifi/camera pole out in the middle of the field to watch my livestock. with the 12V I bought a nice inverter online onsale and quickly realized the smart features are counter productive for my usage.
I will also add the $2500 Eco-Worthy kit was a good starter for me. Did have to supliment some better breakers and such but definitely would start with that kit a second time. My MPPT is very limited but I think they have already greatly improved that. - simple features and mobile app stuff.
