No solar Charging from MPPT 100/50

Hello Emoji Victron community,

The problem I am having is almost exactly as it has been described in the following video. Off Grid Garage (Australia) Link : https://youtu.be/Dk6pYFpfmm0?si=XopKN5hyDWc7ifm6

I have an MPPT 75/10 and a 100/50, the 100/50 I sent back to the dealer as I thought it was defective.

I had a spare 75/10 and so I hooked this up and it’s displaying the same readings as the 100/50 did. You can see on the Victron app a healthy 20-21 volts but there is zero “0” amps and watts. Therefore, the batteries are not being charged. From the same display you can see that the battery🔋 voltage is healthy around 14 volts.

However, I’m connected to shore power and the SOC is going down 1-2% per day when only a few days ago everything was healthy at 100% .. I was getting between 50-80 w (per day from a 100w panel) on the solar, and the state of charge was always 100% and the voltage stayed around a constant 14.2 volts. No change of equipment or settings .. it just suddenly decided to partially stop working. But it’s so targeted, both devices seem to be working except no charging. I’ve tried combinations of setting changes. I have checked the cables and the fuses, I checked that all battery connections were toqued up nice and tight.

I am at a loss, what do I do next ?

Your images have not come through. If the MPPT is registering voltage on the battery terminals that does not mean it is connected to the battery. You need to use a multimeter to measure the battery voltage and the MPPT terminal voltage and see if they are the same. Also measure voltage between MPPT battery +ve and actual battery +ve, same for negatives, with 0 current flow they should be the same. Track down the problem connection. Are you using the cheap resettable breakers, these have a poor record for not contacting properly, a fuse is better.

Dear Friend,

Thank you :folded_hands: for getting back to me so quickly with your valuable advice. I’m a little embarrassed to say that I rechecked the fuse and discovered it had blown, probably on a day when we had high sun. All is working now, my apologies for disturbing you on such a simple problem fix. This will teach me in future to better recognise and diagnose this type of problem.

Best Regards
