No SOC or any information other than voltage for SmartShunt - beginner user

Have inherited a SmartShunt battery (AU) from a retailer called Kings with a second hand car I bought.

Used to have full state of charge information flow through to my phone with no issues. Got a new phone and noticed that I could only see voltage and no state of charge information. Spent a lot of time trying to understand why in the user manual and have done the following things;

  • Made sure to properly disconnect the old phone (forget device in both VictronConnect + bluetooth)
  • Made sure to properly connect new phone (via VictronConnect, not via Apple)

The device appears in my listed devices and I am able to see voltage (which I am assuming means I am connected properly) - but I just cannot find a way to get state of charge or any history / trends data.

Any help very gratefully received!!

Thats got nothing to do with your phone, you’re connected properly, the Shunt simply has no SOC to show to you. Cause and solution can be found in the manual

Also, really good shunt-related guidance in the faq section.

Have you carried out any rewiring, have you connected any new cables to the battery negative terminal. Correct wiring covered in one of the shunt FAQs linked above.

Thank you! I have followed this advice (my instruction manual that I can access from the Help section didn’t have this information in the equivalent section).

I reset the charge to 100% as advised when the battery was at 14 volts. Its now gone down to 10 volts and the state of charge is still saying 100%.

From what I can understand - this means its still not working properly? Is this right?

Not done any re-wiring and also not connected any new batteries … will double check again in case I have accidentally knocked something

Your battery is flat—charge it immediately at a maximum of 10 A, up past 20%!

Your BMS can’t measure small quiescent currents, which is why it still shows 100%. However, the voltage is at 10 V—it’s not far from suffering total damage!
