I have a travel trailer that has a BlueSolar MPPT w/Bluetooth dongle, a battery SmartShunt, and I just installed an Orion XS DC-DC Charger to assist charging the trailers 2 x 100ah Battleborn batteries while driving. I have ran 6awg wire fused with a 40a ANL to the rear bumper terminated with an Anderson plug. I then ran 6awg wire to the input of the Orion XS. I wired the output onto the DC positive bus bar and then configured the charger for lithium smart batteries. To test the charger I have drained the batteries using a coffee pot on the inverter circuit so that it would be able to provide a charge.
The problem that I am having is that I am not getting any output current and my batteries are not receiving a charge. I’ve checked and I’m receiving 13.8v to 14v from the truck battery at the input ports. The VE.direct app shows the same input voltage(s) and the output voltage at the set 14.2v but no current and the batteries are not receiving a charge. I have tried using the VE.Smart networking with the SmartShunt and the Orion and it boosted the output voltage to 16.2 but still is not providing any current for charging. Does anyone have any ideas? I’ve been pulling my hair out all afternoon trying to figure out the issue.
