I’d like to suggest a feature that would allow users to assign custom names to Relay 1 and Relay 2 on the Cerbo GX, directly from the new GUI (GUI v2) in Venus OS.
I’ve seen multiple posts on this forum where users have requested this functionality. It would greatly improve clarity and usability, especially in systems where the relays are used for different purposes like water pumps, heating elements, or ventilation.
As of now, I understand that this is only possible with unofficial modifications like GuiMods, which works with the older interface. However, it would be great to see this feature natively supported in a future version of Venus OS.
Is this something that could realistically be added in an upcoming release?
Thanks in advance to the Victron team and community for all your great work.
Relay 1 - When set to ‘Manual’ would have the following controls: Relay 1 On [switch] (existing)
Relay 1 Name [name field] (new)
Relay 1 Polarity [Toggle - Normal/Inverted]
or Relay 1 Off Name [name field, defaults to “Off”]
Relay 1 On Name [name field, defaults to “On”]
For some background, I use one of these relays to control a power relay which turns on my Water Heater. I have it such that when the internal relay is off, the external relay and water heater is on. In other words, I am using the NC contact on the relay. I do this so that if the cerbo is not running for some reason and the internal realy is off, I can still get hot warer. I know there are countless other examples for this. But, I have to remember that off is on and vice-versa. It would be great to be able to toggle the polarity of this, or rename what OFF and ON both mean. Renaming probably is the more flexible solution, as you could rename these to pairs that are not easy to “translate” into off or on, such as Night and Day, Port and Starboard, etc.
Let me know if there is anyway in which I could help this come along.
