New build system help

@PieterD Thank you for your time to educate people like me. I am also fgoting for 16.1kWh seplos 2x batteries. ( in the futre may be I coudl add 3rd one).

  1. But in my shopping list (still, not placed any ordered becasue I am not sure that my list is complete): I have added Lynx shunt GX (as for victron basic training) . but you do not use it ? Also I choose 2x Lynx distibutior . is this bad or its a good way to go?
  2. I have SMA 10kW tripower 23 trina 395 solar system. Which is already in the house connection and will be connected to ACin_1 position of multiplus-II_48/5000 (3x). So I acn charge battery during the day.
  3. Where can i buy Barrty switch and you hve added to multiplus DC out put. many people do not added at all. I see people addeding this swith to battery + terminal. If I must add this swith I should buy 5x !!
  4. Will you kindly share wiering diagram and shopping list if possible please?

This is my shopping list. may be I miss some thing like cables ?

also like to add EMG swith.(will be ordered from digiKey)

Also which valuve MEGA fuse must be added for battery side and inverterDC side?

Thank you.

Don’t get the lynx DC shunt, none installer is using it because it is not accurate over time.
Switched to Lynx Smart BMS 500 (the old not NG one), this one is accurate.
Or you can use a smart shunt for SOC measurement.
What battery pack are you planning to buy?

Hi Ron,

Please find attached my wiring diagram as requested.

As I drew it in powerpoint I have made a screenshot of it.

You do not need the Lynx-shunt like also Ron_h has already stated.

The battery switches I bought via Amazon.
These are from Blue Sea Systems.

I added these to enable de-coupling of battery pack if needed for maintenance or in case of a failure.

I also added, not listed in the diagram, a system that loads the Condensators in the Victron Multiplusses before connecting the Battery’s to the system. This prevents heavy sparks in the switches when turning them on for the first time or after a longer time shut-off. This system is connecting the plus of one battery pack via in serie connected Hallogeen bulbs and a make switch (all in serie and when
Pushing the switch) to the DC plus of the Multiplusses. In fact this is mounted over the input and output of 1 dc switch.

Please also find attached my BOM.

I hope the info helps. I can send you more info if you send me in a PB your email address.

Best regards,

Pieter

Where do you want to order? A typical webshop/ box-pucher may not give you a full after sale service/ warranty for DIY installed systems.

Here in the Netherlands we have some very good Victron webshops, some are brand new but have long experience with Victron gear.

@PieterD Thank you. Yes, For the soft start I have added 60Watt 60Vdc Lamp and push switch in my wiring diagram. And also i will add dry contact- Finder 12vdc relay 3x for hard reset EMG too. There is also from cerbogx software relay activation EMG switch but thats an extra option. normally when I design machine diagrams we need to have CE certificate with safety plc. (double safety control).

Regarding change over switch and cables from main electrical cabinets to battery pack area are already confirmed design with 2x SPD. (one AC-IN and one for AC-out type2)

In 2 weeks I learn a lot. and I am not going to make use of lynx distributor neither lynx shunt. seplos battery has good BMS and shunt which will communicate with Cerbo-GX.

70 cm display from victron is also at higher price. after doing some research I found, an android tablet (40-50 euros) with V8.0 or above will also work. only latest F/W must be present in the cerbo-GX.

Thank you very much for your kind help and time, to share your knowledge with me/ community . Every day we learn new.

Thought to make my own byt seplos has good price and affordable and will communicate with Cerbox GX

Hi, I’m very happy with the Seplos BMS system as it also does active balancing.

Concerning a display, I do not have this and I think you can save the investment as everything also can be seen via the VRM app.

Good luck with your project!!

Happy Eastern!

@Frisianstar I am from south of Netherlands (limburg) . where Can I get with good deal? do you have any suggestions’?

Can advice, I’m also live in Limburg (Brunssum)

Be sure you order the battery in time, delivery time (and selling price) is growing bij the week, you don’t want to end with no battery or a complete unknown battery brand, they are not supported by Victron anyway. (IF they have a bms inside!).

@Frisianstar iam sorry, no offense. But its hard to understand you in this community. Question was, where to buy? Which brand battery? Any inputs from your side?

DIY do not get any support, so buy where you get the best price.
I like the EEL DIY casings with JK BMS.

And get the cells from NKON

Thats not true, you will have full support on diy if your seller is an official victron dealer

Not mine experience, but doesn’t matter as DIY you have to know what your doing anyway.
Wiring the DC is clear but AC isn’t, even for me with electronics background.
Of cause the regulations are different between countries,…
Maybe Victron is only something for professionals and should not be sold at the DIY market!

I agree AC wiring can be challenging without knowledge, i see a lot of wrong or even dangerous AC side installs, (wrong cabling, wrong breakers) but DC can be even more dangerous with al those high currents

DC side is easy to describe from victron point of view, (wiring unlimited handbook) AC is always client/country dependant

my advise is to always let the AC side be done or at least checked by an electrician unless you are one your self (as i am)

@ron_h @DuivertNL Yes, initially all look complex. But step by step its doable! AC side just follow NEN 1010. Victron has some online courses and certifications too. Most of them for now I have completed too and submitted exams too. In the past I did for enphase but lately its too expensive for people and I can not install. I liked victron eco system and logic. Victron is produced in india and china. Lot of research and programs happens in Nederland and India. And its long time standing company. So even after 20 years there will be parts available (at least I hope). And its modular so if something get break only we can replace that hardware.

I wish Victron should have thier own webshop in Nederland. That’s bit sad side. I reach out many suppliers only nkon has best price (don’t like to give discount even I have bulk orders, where as other will give but still it will not come near to nkon price tag)

Battery seplos and its works with Victron. Price is bit higher than your link. Buts it comes with wheel and handle. Looks much nicer.

Tip: In the distributor try to use Adler ef3 fuse. It has more ACI value than mega fuse. And I will use DC mcb. Where as nh00 ser. Is pretty expensive too.

Remote EMG 3 block contact used to emergency stop wiring.

End of the day its all investment: After almost all parts together: for 32kWh Battery pack. It comes around 8.5K €. Without my hour’s. Which is not bad.

Now iam learning on parameters settings, bms control settings from seplos. And understanding its necessity …etc.

If you have any inputs let is know.

Have a nice day.

Cheers

@ron_h I am from kerkrade. If you like we can do it together by each other helping knowledge wise. But I do not know how to connect you personally.

Search for offgridgarage.
Andy does test all types of BMS and from most he has settings how work.
On YouTube lots of funny video’s.
If you look for lynx shunt and 2 victron busbars (for fuse only not with , I have second hand 1/2 year old.
Switched to BMS 500 and the ones with fuse indicator.

By the way, I have already a 96kWh 3 phase running system

Yes, I watched it too.

Cool 96kWh pack!! U might have enough space for it. I don’t have such a big space. Like to start small and see how things goes year by year.

How much room do you have and how far is this from your living room?
The inverters do make a humming sound and the internal fan does make noise.
They also produce heath so some ventilation is needed.
I installed them in mine cellar.
EEL box does have the smallest foodprint
