Since I upgraded yesterday I noticed the surplus of Solaredge PV gets exported to the grid, I would like to store this in my battery.
I think there might be a bug in 1.30.
If anybody knows a fix, or how to downgrade (I have created a victron professional account), but I am totally lost in the folder and filename mess that seems to exist there.
Until version 1.29 the battery was able to charge and discharge with 15-17 kW maximum. The battery is able to do 600A charge/discharge the system reports:
Request charging: NO
Charge current limit: 480A
Discharge current limit: 510A
It just seems to totally ignores charging from the solar edge inverter. If I put it in “Keep batteries charged”, the battery starts charging with 17kW
I will try downgrading first, thanks to your help I found the version of the file.
If you switch the Multi RS to ‘off’ and then back to ‘on’, it starts working again at 1.30. I discovered this issue when I switched it to ‘pass-through’ and then to ‘on’—I encountered the same problem you did. Once the inverters were switched from ‘off’ to ‘on’, the system started charging again. I believe this only affects three-phase systems; the changelog actually mentioned an adjustment regarding this. I put also it on the forum. I think it is an hidden feature.
I tried this, I upgraded to 1.30 again, switched to passthrough, waited a while, switched back to on.
And I still have the same issue, there is something really wrong with version 1.30. I am downgrading again to version 1.29.
I have experienced the exact same behaviour after upgrading to 1.30. For me, the L3 inverter (3-phase setup) was exporting excess (AC-coupled) PV power to the grid while L1 and L2 were charging the battery. The difference between L3 and L1+L2 in my setup is that L3 has no MPPTs active, while the inverters for L1 and L2 do have their MPPTs active.
After downgrading, the problem disappeared as well.
I have tried all methods with firmware 1.30. In the three-phase setup, it goes wrong when you switch to pass-through and then back to on. Then it doesn’t charge to the battery. I disconnected everything and tried every phase with 1.30, but the no problem occurred with only one fase. Only with an 3 fase solution. If I switch to pass-through and then back to on, it doesn’t charge. It only starts charging again if I switch it to the off position and then back to on. If I manage to get it charging again, I have the problem the next day; it won’t charge again without being set to pass-through. Now back on version 1.29, there is absolutely no problem anymore; it works as I expected.
I updated the RS multi’s to the last firmware version 1.31 and the problem is solved. The battery charge is now ok. From pass-through to on the multi rs now directly charging the battery from the solar.
The Setup: 3× Multi RS Solar 48/6000 fw 1.31 (or 1.30) in three-phase configuration, Cerbo GX, AC-coupled 8.0kWp PV inverter, grid measurement via VM-3P75CT. DESS with grid trade mode.
On 1.29 this works correctly. On both 1.30 and 1.31, the units are unable to match wattage across all three phases: loads on two phases are compensated by their respective inverters, but the third phase is not taken into account at all and is drawn from the grid. The actual inverter/phase that is lagging appears to be the one with the largest load. I suspect this is the same regression in the reworked internal power calculations mentioned in the 1.30 changelog.
I did test the off→on workaround mentioned above; no difference.
Reverting to 1.29 again, this is unwanted behaviour — the system buys from the grid during expensive hours.
The issue is when my SolarEdge inverter delivers more on any phase than is needed by the home on that phase. The excess goes to the grid instead of charging the battery.
I’m also using one Multi RS 6000 in an ESS scenario with a VM-3P75CT. It’s a three-phase grid and the Multi RS is connected on L1. I don’t have any AC coupled inverter, only some DC connected PV arrays at the Multi RS.
After updating to 1.31, it seems that the phase compensation is not working properly anymore. I’ve observed unexplainable behavior. I don’t really understand what the Multi RS is doing with the new firmware.
Apart from this, I’ve seen the Multi RS ignoring these two settings:
Max. discharge current (25 A)
Current limit at AC input (20 A)
Both values were exceeded under certain circumstances. After seeing the AC input limit being ignored, I have decided to revert to 1.29. Now it seems that everything is back to normal.
I believe, the feature “Rework internal power calculations to ensure proper battery current limits and AC input current limits” might have some strange/buggy side effects, especially if a single-phase Multi RS is operating in a three-phase grid.
The problem with Multi RS firmware 1.31,
I only notice an issue when the battery is full and there is still sufficient PV output (with roughly equal power across all phases): the MultiPlus does not distribute the load evenly across the phases.
Most of the load usually ends up on phase 2, with the remainder split between phases 1 and 3. However, if I switch the system to ‘passthrough’ mode and then back to ‘on’, the load is distributed evenly across the phases when the battery is full.
