Hi, is it possible to establish communication between a MultiPlus-II GX 48/3000/35-32 and a Shelly Pro EM-50 via Modbus TCP, or is it necessary to use any external hardware? Thanks
The standard multiplus does not talk to the outside world, it only has VE.bus communications.
EDIT: The Multiplus-II GX already has Cerbo capabilities built in, sorry.
A Cerbo GX or Ekrano or Raspberry Pi running VenusOS is typically used to talk to the multiplus and other devices through Ethernet, RS-485, etc., and to act as a central controller.
However, the Shelly Pro EM-50 will require a custom driver. Someone may have done that in the modifications section here, search for it.
I own an EM-50, and have written a crude emulator of another energy meter that wraps the EM-50, but it only communicates power, nothing else.
So I think the best solution is to use a MultiPlus-II 48/3000/35-32 (NON-GX) together with a Cerbo GX. Will this give me more options than the MultiPlus-II GX?
Oh sorry, I missed that you had the GX variant, the Cerbo equivalent GX is built in!

You should already have what you need.
Here is an old thread on doing a custom driver:
