Multiplus ii charge

Good afternoon, we have installed on our boat a new Multiplus ii 24/3000/70 charging via the BMS 500 NG 2 batteries Victron LiFePo4 200 Ah NG. Question: running our generator (5,8 Kwh) the charge start absorbing around 60 Ah but then very soon autonomously drop to 30 or lower. No differences in this behaviour if batteries are 85% or 45%. Is that normal? Considering that we would run the gen as less as possible how can we extend the bulk charge longer? Thanks for your support. Alessandro

This could be due to either a battery side issue or a generator / Multiplus issue and there is not enough information to determine this.

When you are charging from the generator and the battery charge current is 60A,

  1. what is the battery voltage and temperature is being reported by the BMS on the GX device.
  2. on the GX device, click on settings - Devices - BMS -then scroll down the list to parameters and what is CVL reported as.

Hi, many thx for the fast reply. Below the info as you requested:
v 26,88-27 Temp. 30C
CVL 28
Actual charge status 82%

Best regards

OK, the charging is not battery voltage limited and the temperature is not a problem.

I forgot to ask, on the BMS parameters page, what was the CCL, I expect 400A.

Can you access your Multiplus settings to find firmware version and the charger settings.

The newest firmware V556 has some improvements to handle charging from a generator. On the charging section there is a setting called “weak ac”. If weak ac is turned on it can limit the charger current. with V556 weak ac should be turned off. The other settings to check are the ac input limit is high enough, at least 16A and the battery charge current limit is set to 120A.

Ok many thx I will check tomorrow

Hi me again  thx for your support.
CCL checked 400
Firmaware checked V556
Unfortunately we did not found a way to access the “weak ac” setting.
Surey something escaped to us but we do not find the route to.
Ciao

It is number 2 in the charger settings in VE Configure. Also charger current number 10. It will be different for VictronConnect programming.
