MultiPlus II AC outputs question

Hi There –

I was reading the manual (before installation) and found out that the 2 AC outputs have different functions.
I need 2 outputs, 1 for my cabin’s 120VAC lines (refrigerator, lights) and 1 for the 240VAC transformer (well pump).

Is it possible to use this inverter as I desire?
I found this in the manual:

AC-out-2 (Maximum Torque: 2 Nm)

A second output is available that disconnects its load in the event of battery operation. On these terminals, equipment is

connected that may only operate if AC voltage is available on AC-in-1, e.g. an electric boiler or an air conditioner. The load

on AC-out-2 is disconnected immediately when the inverter/charger switches to battery operation. After AC power becomes

available on AC-in-1, the load on AC-out-2 will be reconnected with a delay of approximately 2 minutes. This to allow a genset

to stabilise.

A UL 943 compliant residual current circuit breaker (RCCD) and fuse or circuit breaker rated at max. 32A must be connected in

series with AC-out-2.

Is it possible to override the disconnect feature of AC-out-2 so it just stays connected when the battery is supplying power (I only have solar/battery power)?
Or should the AC-out-1 just be split to the Cabin Lines and the Well Pump?

Yes it is programmable.

You will need to load an assistant to make it behave in the way you want. Quite a few topics on this on the forum, so a search may help (often easier via google vs the built-in one here).

By default, yes, it drops on grid loss.

You may have missed the critical point that a single MultiPlus II 120V inverter only produces 120V.
You need two of them configured properly for split-phase to get 120/240V.

Also, be aware that the startup surge current of a well pump (Locked Rotor Amps, LRA) is typically 4x the running current, so the inverters have to be sized properly if you want the pump to start.

Adding that made me wonder if @NYSolar was asking about the MultiPlus-II 2x120V unit now?

The auxiliary output of an early production batch of this product was rated at 35A instead of 50A. This batch has serial numbers starting with HQ2107. Later batches, with 50A aux. output have serial numbers starting with HQ2114 or higher.

The tech note only mentions this but not if it is programmable

Thanks for the helpful replies! I think I have it figured out. Just use the AC-Out-1 and a distribution panel with 1 circuit to 120VAC and another to the AutoTransformer. That will keep it simple for my simple skills. :grinning_face:
