I’ve a setup with 2 x Multi II 48/5000 in parallel, with a generator on AC IN. The system refuses to charge the batteries using power from the ac input, but will pass it through if there’s a load on the system.
The generator output is steady, voltage and frequency are ok,the AC IN current is set low (4A per unit) so theres no chance the generator is overloaded and dropping voltage.
Accept wide frequency is set to on.
Any suggestions? Both units are using 507 firmware, work fine otherwise. We’ve tried the 3.5mm ac current sensor trick, putting a plug in and out a number of times and no joy.
Try enabling weak AC in the charger page.
Some good info here

Yes we have weak AC enabled. Its as if the inverters arent sensing the input on AC IN. The genny output isnt the problem in this instance I dont think. You can hear the inverter connecting to the genny, but then only drawing whatever power is being used on AC Out, rather than going up to the current limit and charging the batteries
Hi @stevepbyrne,
I have seen a case in the past where this was caused by an issue with the battery temperature reading from the Inverter/Charger connected probe, and temperature compensation.
Are you using the MultiPlus temperature probes?
Can you check that they are reporting battery temperature correctly?
After checking that and ruling out that isn’t the issue, if it still isn’t working can you please post your VRM URL and I can have a closer look?
Issue solved (courtesy of Phillip Gordon, Victron) - we disabled v-sense in both inverters using ve.config after noticing that the multis were reporting battery voltage 4v higher than the battery bms itself. Doing that has the multis and the battery reporting the same voltage and the multi is using the charger to allow the generator to charge the batteries. Presumably the multi thought that the batteries were full and hence the problem.
