Can my Multiplus-II accept a generator input and shore power input on the same AC in. Obviously not at the same time, would it harm any of them?
I do that in our RV, using a transfer switch.
You need to use a transfer switch so that you’re not backfeeding the line, don’t just run both inputs into the unit. But with a transfer switch properly installed, no issues at all.
Hey thanks for the quick reply. Would you have any recommendations on make of switches, manual or automatic etc? Do Victron do them?
RVs tend to use Progressive Dynamics ATS (automatic transfer switch), but there are manual ones too - the Blue Sea 8061 is a breaker-style with a lockout, or there are rotary ones like the Blue Sea 9009, or Sterling Power also sells rotary styles as well. Really just a matter of preference / requirements / available space / etc.
