Multi RS 6000 not using the correct data

Hi all,

I’m currently experimenting with a Multi RS 6000 and have encountered a few minor inconveniences.

Most issues seem related to energy meter support—or the lack thereof.

I’m using a VM3P-75CT for grid monitoring. While it works flawlessly with the MultiPlus-II, it doesn’t (yet) work with the Multi RS over Ethernet.
Is Ethernet support planned, or should I start planning to lay a 150m+ VE.Can cable? The Multi RS is in a completely separate building from the grid meter, so this would be quite a hassle.

Another issue is that the Multi RS estimates battery SOC based on its own data, rather than using the correct values from the SmartShunt.
I also have a SmartSolar charger connected to the battery bank. Because the Multi RS doesn’t see that input, its SOC reading is always lower than the actual value reported by the SmartShunt.
As a result, the Multi RS stops feeding back to the grid when its internal SOC hits 5%, even though the SmartShunt shows much more remaining capacity.

Lastly, the loads connected to the Multi RS don’t appear in the VictronConnect app. They do show up in VRM, so this is only a minor issue.

The Multi RS is running firmware version 1.24.

Below some screenshots of the different SOC’s and missing load.

I cannot help you with your issues, I have also got a smartsolar direct to the battery with a smart shunt. my multi RS also “loses” SOC % compared to the smartshunt.
currently my smart shunt SOC is 90% and my RS multi is 0%
I do not have any other processes that uses the SOC from the RS multi so it doenot bother me at all, I just ignore the RS multi SOC and only use the smartshunt SOC

HI Stefan,

Thanks for your reply, it doesn’t really bother me either but I’ve found that the RS stops trading (ie. discharging) when DESS is enabled and the RS reaches a low SOC. If I manually reset it to 100% it starts trading again.

Do you have DESS enabled and if yes does it keep discharging even though the RS has a low SOC?

No I don not have DESS enabled, as I am not connected to a grid. fully off grid
