Multi RS 6000 and german §9/§14a test results - please improve UI for feed-in and charge limits

Hello everyone,

after the release of v1.28 for the Multi RS 6000 I did some testing and here are my findings disabling charging and grid feedin.

Used versions and configurations:

  • Multi RS 6000 firmware v1.28 in 3 Phase configuration
  • Victron Connect v6.30 Beta 8 (MacOS)
  • Cerbo GX MK1 firmware v3.70~83
  • Node-Red palette v1.6.59
  • There is no external control system (ImSys) installed yet
  • Testing was only done by switching the VC Aux settings to on/off

Testing to disable feedin (§9)
Setting “Use Aux1 as disable FeedIn signal” to “Aux input active” correctly triggers the message “Feed-in not active” in Victron Connect. I was not able to test it fully because there was not enough solar production that day.

Findings:

  • There is no clear indication on Cerbo that the Feed-in is disabled
  • There is no clear indication on VRM that the Feed-in is disabled
  • Node-Red “RS6K-L1 > Disable Feed-in” stayed at 0 (Feed-in enabled)
  • Node-Red “RS System > Disable Feed-in (into grid)” stayed at 0 (Feed-in enabled)

Testing to disable charge (§14a)
This was simulated by setting the minimum SOC to 100% with 50% charged battery. The battery charge went up to around 15 kW and was correctly limited when “Use Aux2 as limit charger signal” was set in Victron Connect.

Findings:

  • There is no clear indication on Cerbo that the charge was limited
  • There is no clear indication on VRM that the charge was limited
  • Node-Red “RS6K-L1 > Disable charge” stayed at 0 (Charge enabled)
  • There is no “RS System > Limit Charge (from grid)” option in Node-Red

Recommendations:

  • There should to be a clear visible indicator on Cerbo and VRM for both scenarios
  • The nodes in Node-Red need to be functional and report the correct status
  • There should be an option to send alarms when either “Limit charger” or “Feed-in disabled” is triggered

Thanks and kind regards

Stefan

@guystewart Would you be so kind and forward my findings to engineering? Thanks a bunch.

Hi @aaxc

I passed on your post to R&D as a feature request.
