Mulitplus 2 with original VE.Bus BMS

Hi all,

I’m upgrading my Multiplus Compact 2000 to a Multiplus 2 12/3000/120… I have 4 x 100amp Smart Lithium batteries for domestic use… These are currently managed by the original VE.Bus BMS… The manual for the Multiplus 2 states to use the VE.Bus BMS v2… is this necessary as was hoping this would be a quick swap over and not cost the extra to purchase a new BMS…

The original VE bus BMS manual shows this version being used with the Multiplus 2. The Multiplus 2 was available before the VE bus BMS v2. My take on this is the current version of the Multiplus 2 manual is written for completely new installs so lists the current version of products. Additionally, if you go to the Victron product page for the VE bus BMS, go to downloads and select schematics you can see many examples of original version with MP2.

This is my view from rereading the VE bus BMS manual, check with the supplier for absolute proof.

Thanks for the reply! Seems I should be OK with the original BMS, but will get the supplier of the MP2 to double check with Victron before placing the order as you suggest.

Original VE.Bus BMS is no Problem, just need to configure the Multiplus II to use the BMS.

But! the Original BMS has limited functionality. That is probably why they updated the manual.
