My MPPT which has been working fine for the last 8 months suddenly stopped registering any wattage at all at 1230 this morning - total drop off . Did some trouble shooting and found out that if I bypass the fuse between the panle and the MPPT it works fine . Tested the continuity on the fuse and all fine . Plugged in the panle again and tested voltage and ams before the fuse and after fuse on the MC4 connectors and all works ( approx 19V and 8A) but when I plug the fuse back into the MPPT , nothing . Bypass the fuse 120 / 130W . All connectors continuity tested , voltage and current and at all the points , just won’t register on the MPPT.
PS - the voltage direct from the panel in this sun was reading 20.7 volts - is that too high for the MPPT?
@Alban72 Check the integrity of the connections into the breaker and consider replacing the breaker / fuse as it likely developed a fault over time that results in high resistance. If you have access to a FLIR check the temperature of it. A continuity test does not show e.g. high resistance and only proves there is no break in the circuit.
You’re also using ferrules on the charger which is not recommended (terms and conditions apply).
That would be a factor worth checking.
Thanks for this , will check resistance , might just get another breaker just in case
