MPPT solar charger

we are using MPPT 250/100 VE can in a commercial space for a communication shelter

The scope requires batteries to be installed externally away from the Comms Shelter

In the MPPT solar charger manual it states the controller to be mounted no less then 3m away from the batteries, is this critical to the performance of the charger and batteries?

system design will require the controller to be mounted in a separate room and 7m + away from battery location

Will this system design work?

I suspect the reason is voltage drop. If your cables are sized correctly there should be no issue. You need to make cable calculations yourself.

The terminals on the MPPT are probably too small for the cables you need so you need to find a solution for that.

Using DVCC or VE smart network to monitor battery voltage and temperature might be a big advantage.

Then you need to include a voltage sensing device, like a smart shunt and a GX device, then you can use remote voltage sensing via the GX.

Otherwise, for 7m, just oversize the charger cables to reduce voltage drop as suggested above.for 100A use at least 35mm^2.
