MPPT 75/15 settings and carafan dust extraction instal

Hi Hoping for some guidance here . I have fitted a carafan dust reduction system to my van . Installation went well. I tested the carafan before installing by wiring directly to battery and it worked fine . Now that its fully installed when the carafan is switched on it flickers on and the vans power resets. Everything else in the van works perfectly . I have installed new batteries and the fault has stayed the same. I a have once again run the fan directly from battery bypassing mppt and it runs fine . From the lithium bms i can see its drawing 5.8 amp which is in line with specs of fan. I have also wired the fan up to a different live feed (fan in shower which is not in the loop with the carafan) and it trips the system. So i think i have ruled out any faulty wiring /earthing issues. I have a victron mppt 75/15 . Is there something in the settings that is causing it to trip that i can change . Ive had a look in settings but cant see anything . .Thanks in advance for anyones help . Cheers gary

Did you wire your fan to the load side of the mppt ?

This can carry only 1Amp.

Hi Ludo. Everything in the caravan runs off the load side of mppt . Water pumps , other fans etc . It has a load capacity of 15 amps ? Cheers Gary

Gary, you are right, the manual says 15a.

But your experience is the same as mine : it doesn’t deliver.

So you’ll either have to connect your fan to the battery, or connect a load-relais to the mppt, switchung plus to all users.

Thanks ludo . Do you have any details of a load relay that would be appropriate ?
Cheers gary

Do not forget that most motors can draw 6 times the normal current as a start up surge which would be well above the MPPT rating.

Thanks for that i see where i may be in trouble . Any solutions you can think of ? Cheers Gary

You have the solution, connect it to the battery direct, the MPPT load terminals are for light loads only.

Thank you
