Monitoring engine alternator

I want to monitor the output of the engine alternator on a boat

The alternator has a negative lead (not case grounded) and i was thinking of adding a smart shunt to that circuit, and configuring the smartshunt as a DC energy meter or alternator if the setup allows that.

Has anybody done this, and how does it appear on the Cerbo GX screens?

Hi @blskevin
Yes, you can do that. Configure the shunt as DC Energy Meter, then ‘DC System’. Do this via bluetooth, it won’t probably show otherwise.
In the GX, enable ‘Has DC System’ and a ‘DC Power’ tile will show on the GX screen and VRM. (NewUI might show ‘DC Loads’). The shunt value will populate it.
I haven’t looked for a while, but I don’t think that value will show in the cumulative VRM data.

Thanks!!!
