Hello.
I have a new victron IP22 charging 2 x lead acid batteries.
I plan to change one of the batteries to lithium. So I will need to reprogram the charging regime of the Victron charger in line with the new lithium battery.
How will the remaining lead acid battery cope with this new charging regime ?
This is not ideal because the lithium charging algorithm is normally at lower absorption voltage and for a shorter period so the lead acid may not get fully charged.
It depends on how much the lead acid needs recharging each cycle, if it just needs topping up due to light use it may be OK.
Correct solution is a separate charger.
Thanks for that.
The remaining lead acid battery is a starter battery for a diesel engine so is largely fully charged anyway.
So, from what you say this might be ok. At least worth a try for now !
If it is just for starting and does not supply loads like vehicle systems then you should be OK.
