I have a Victron LiFePo4 house bank and a Lead Acid starting battery. I have a small 55amp alternator that will first be going to my starter battery and then a dc/dc 30amp charger to charge my LiFePo4 house bank. My question is…Will this model of inverter charger charge two battery banks (house bank and Starter bank) of different battery chemistries?
I see in the manual that this model of inverter/charger has the ability to connect to and charge a starting battery at 4amps when plugged into “shore power”.
The manual doesn’t specify if the house battery and staring battery can be of different battery chemistries. I have found a Victron wiring diagram that closely matches my system and it shows a separate Blue Smart 12v 5amp charger. I’m not sure what model of inverter is used in the schematic i found.
Have a read of this FAQ that you must have missed in the FAQ sticky at the top of the DIY category. This explains how the trickle charger works and pros and cons of different chemistry. The key is what type of Victron batteries / BMS you are using.
Thanks for the reply. That answers my question.
