Could I use the Class T fuse in the Lynx, when connecting to Multiplus Compact 12 1600 70?
Thx,
Peroj
The Lynx Shunt doesn’t accept a Class T fuse. See the manual: 6. Installation
Thank you for your response. I understand that the Lynx Shunt installation section in the manual provides an example with a CNN-type fuse, but it does not explicitly mention whether a Class T fuse is incompatible.
Could you clarify if the restriction is due to specific design considerations in the Lynx Shunt that would make the Class T fuse unsuitable? Or is it simply that the manual uses CNN-type fuses as a reference example?
Your insight would be greatly appreciated, as I want to ensure that I’m using the most appropriate fuse for connecting the Lynx to the Multiplus Compact 12 1600 70.
They’re two completely different fuses with different fastening spec, physical dimensions, and capabilities - there’s zero cross-compatibility between Class T and CNN fuseholders, and as such wouldn’t be called out in the manual. There is no need to specify the fuses not to use when the fuse to use is specified.
The Lynx Shunt accepts a CNN fuse, so that will be the appropriate fuse to use in the Lynx Shunt.
If you do want to add a Class T fuse to your system you certainly can, but then please order a Class T fuseholder and a Class T fuse (making note that the Class T fuse dimensions vary depending on the current rating of the fuse, so the rating of the fuse will determine which fuseholder you need) and install that as a separate item where desired.
The lynx shunt has been nic-named the most expensive fuse holder. The product is meh. It also takes a standard ANL fuse. With a small system like that, a standard T class fuse holder and a smart shunt would be more economical.
Thank you. All clear, will do
