Looking for recommendations (placement of inverters/batteries etc,.)

Folks,

In a few weeks I will be moving to a different home and leave behind my current ESS 15kW Multiplus system as I sold it as part of the home. (A++) My new home is far from A++ so one of the first activities (other then moving) is to start designing a new ESS system, however I’m limited in storage of all the gear.

The utilities cabinet is pretty small, very typical for a 1960’s (Dutch) home, so I need to store / locate the full ESS system somewhere else. I have a “shed” available but that requires AC & DC cables running up & down. Another option is to keep all upstairs, near the solar panels thus keeping the DC cabling short only having to run AC (3 phase) downwards. I got a carport available a few meters away from the utilities cabinet.

Anyhow, looking for your recommendations as well.

Hi Robert

It is always better to do short DC runs and longer AC runs if you have to choose between the two. Regarding space, how much space are we looking at? As long as the spot can fit all your equipment and still has good ventilation you should not have an issue.

Kind regards

Go have a look at the “show us your systems” category. There are plenty of compact installs that should give you some inspiration.

Always consider placement to avoid noise, and airflow.

Every design has a compromise.

thank you, I didn’t thought about that.

Noise in an older house is really going to be an issue, so yes think good about your location!

maybe you can use an outdoor steel cabinet for installation under/in your carport

outdoor steel may mean problem charging accus in winter / below zero…

Treu, unless its a heated cabinet
