I am trying to make an AirWater heat pump part of the opportunity load scheme, by using the S2 resource node.
I had the issue that the s2-resource node shows the status “Waiting for CEM” when deployed. I guess that it means that a connection to CEM was not established. Opportunity loads are already operational and running (a Shelly controlled water boiler).
Now, I think I found the issue, when the “Device type” in the S2 resource was set to “Heat pump”, it did not connect to CEM, but when the type was set to “AC Load”, then the message is “CEM connected (opportunity_load)”. I don’t know if this is a feature or a bug?
Thanks for reporting, and good find. It’s not a bug in the S2 node: the Opportunity Loads version in Venus OS v3.85 only picks up S2 resources registered as AC loads (or switches/EV chargers), not heat pumps. Heat pump support has already been added to Opportunity Loads and will come with a future Venus OS update.
Until then, please keep the Device type on “AC Load”. The S2 control is the same either way, so your heat pump will be scheduled as normal. The only difference is that it shows up as an AC load in the device list and VRM. Once you’re on a firmware with heat pump support, you can switch the type back to “Heat pump”.
You can either:
keep the Device type on “AC Load” on v3.85. The S2 control is the same, so your heat pump is scheduled as normal; it just shows up as an AC load in the device list and VRM.
update to the v3.90 beta and set the Device type to “Heat pump”.
It is very likely that 3.86 or 3.87 will get the heatpump functionality backported too, but can’t tell you when that will be released.
If it still shows “Waiting for CEM” on the beta, please let us know.
